Johns Hopkins Estate Planning Seminar

Mr. Milonas will be a returning sponsor for Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital 24th Annual Estate, Tax, Legal & Financial Planning Seminar to be presented virtually again this year on February 10, 2022.  Mr. Milonas serves on the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital estate planning advisory committee.

Mediator Recertification (2021)

Mr. Milonas was recently recertified as a Certified Circuit Court Mediator.  He is authorized to mediate civil law disputes in all of the 20 Judicial Circuit Courts throughout Florida, whether court-ordered or by agreement of the parties.  In addition, Mr. Milonas is available for private mediations and neutral case evaluations.

NBI Proposed Tax Changes Webinar

Mr. Milonas will be presenting a live webinar on pending and proposed tax legislation affecting trust and estate practitioners on June 23, 2021 for NBI.  NBI is a national presenter of educational programs and publisher of reference materials for attorneys, accountants and financial planners.

Tax Recertification

Mr. Milonas was recently recertified as a Board Certified Tax Lawyer through 2022. Board certified lawyers have met The Florida Bar's highest standards for "special knowledge, skills and proficiency" in various areas of the law and ethics in the practice of law. Mr. Milonas has been certified continuously since 1992.

 

National Tax Moot Court (2021)

Mr. Milonas will be participating as a presiding judge in the 2021 National Moot Court competition. The competition is sponsored annually by The Florida Bar Tax Section and is the only competition of its kind in the United States.  Teams from competing law schools from across the country argue a tax case before a panel of appellate judges consisting of practicing attorneys, Tax Court judges and IRS personnel.  This will be Mr. Milonas' twentieth year judging this event and the first time the event will be conducted remotely.

 

Florida Bar Tax Section

Mr. Milonas was re-appointed to the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Tax Section and appointed Editor of the Florida Bar Journal’s Tax Section Articles.  Mr. Milonas has served in the Tax Section in various leadership capacities for over thirty years.  

 

Peer Review Rating 

Mr. Milonas has again received an AV (highest possible) peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell lawyer rating service for 2020-2021. This honor is awarded to fewer than 5% of practicing attorneys nationwide ad represents the highest levels of competence and ethical integrity in the practice of law.

Florida Super Lawyers (2021)

Mr. Milonas was again selected by his peers for inclusion in Florida Super Lawyers as a top-rated trust and estates litigator.  Voting for this year's list of attorneys began in October 2020 when all Florida lawyers were invited all in-state to nominate their peers in select practice categories.  Lawyers were asked to name attorneys whom they hold in the highest regard and/or would recommend to others.  The top vote-getters were then further examined using information from the Florida Bar and the list of finalists selected by a panel of the editors of Florida’s Super Lawyers. The resulting list represents less than 5% of the active Florida Bar members practicing in Florida.
